One research areas is proposed by each alliance society every year. For 2020-21, the following areas were proposed:

• Global Health and Cooperation in Health Policy (with UCL European Horizons)

• International Conflict (with UCL International Relations)

• State of Democracy & Authoritarianism (with UCL Asiatic Affairs)
